Congratulations to Liverpool who have been crowned the winners of the Premier League 2019/2020.
The Reds needed one victory to seal the league but after Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, meaning Jurgen Klopp's side could not be caught. It is Liverpool's 19th top flight title win.
Over the last 30 years, the club have had their share of silverware having won 3 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, a UEFA Cup - and the Champions League not once but twice, in addition to three Super Cups and one Club World Cup. However, their triumph in this season’s Premier League campaign is a huge moment for the club and their fans, with their last league success coming three decades before, under the management of Kenny Dalglish.
Liverpool have come close to finishing top of the league on a number of occasions in the Premier League era, finishing second four times, most famously in the 2013-2014 season.
The Reds have dominated the 2019/2020 season, at one point leading the table by 25 points, their title win being the earliest in the season on record. With 7 games left to play, plus there still remains the possibility for the side to claim most wins in a single season, the biggest winning margin and the most home and away wins.
Manager Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports: "It's the best thing I can imagine and more than I could have ever dreamed of. It's unbelievable. Much more than I ever thought would be possible
"It is an incredible achievement from my players... and a pure joy for me to coach them"
